Meet Amit M. Patel, M.D.

Dr. Patel specializes in treating conditions of the hand, wrist, and elbow. He is board certified in Plastic Surgery and Hand Surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He received his Hand Surgery training at the Hand Center of San Antonio, which is considered to be one of the premiere fellowships in the country. Having learned from renowned surgeons, Dr. Patel has published research in national scientific journals and has presented at national conferences.

Dr. Patel completed his undergraduate education with highest honors at the Loyola University Chicago. He earned his medical degree at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. He completed his residency in General Surgery at GRMEP/Michigan State University and his Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship at Rush University Medical Center.

Dr. Patel treats patients with a variety of common upper extremity problems such as carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, fractures etc. He also has expertise in complex trauma cases involving injuries to bone, tendons, and nerves. Additionally, Dr. Patel is well versed in work-related injuries and the special attention required for such patients.

Patients describe Dr. Patel as a good listener and very detail oriented. He takes time to truly understand his patients’ concerns and enables them to drive the treatment plan while guiding them with up to date research and techniques. His main goal is to produce the best outcomes for his patients and help them return to their pre-injury work, hobbies, and life at home.

Dr. Patel and his wife are blessed with two children. At home, he loves to play with his children and spend time with his family. He is an avid traveler and enjoys running, basketball and football.
